Tim Sobolewski, CFP®
The President of the Financial Planning Center, Tim Sobolewski, is a CFP® professional who has qualified for several securities and supervisory licenses (Series 7, 9, 10, 23 and 66), but now uses an exclusively fee-based model for all investments. He is licensed in New York for life, health and disability insurance, and is a state-certified agent with the New York State Partnership for Long Term Care. He qualified for the Certification in Long Term Care, and has done extensive work with elderly clients and their families. Tim recently wrote a course on Estate Planning for a CFP® Certification Education program, and teaches in the CFP® certification program.
After years of what he described as "well-paid misery" working as a financial advisor for various banks, Tim decided that there was a need for expert financial planning for people who did not necessarily have a lot of money:
"I believe that everyone's money, no matter how much or how little, deserves to be treated with professional care and respect. Regardless of the amount, someone worked hard to get it. Many Registered Investment Advisor firms, and many CFP® practitioners, have asset minimums that are too high, in my opinion -- $250,000, $500,000 or more. I wanted to bring an expert level of investment management and financial planning to people, regardless of how much money they have."
Tim is a member of the Financial Planning Counselors of Western New York and the Financial Planning Association. He has also served on the boards of the Financial Planning Association of Western New York, Literacy Volunteers Buffalo/Niagara, the Amherst Senior Citizens Foundation, the Permanent Chair of Polish Culture at Canisius College, as well as with the Alumni Representative Committee of Columbia College, and the marketing committee of the Buffalo Philharmonic.
